There are some new things going on in Carlsbad, so check them out and enjoy!

New Carlsbad High School (finally): After years of battling and lawsuits the new high school is set to break ground in early October. The expected completion date is fall of 2013. The school will be located at the intersection of College and Cannon. It really DOES appear to be for real this time, as the last construction permits are being finalized. The new school will ease the overcrowding burden at Carlsbad High School, and will be a welcome addition to the community.

Lowe’s is Coming: The new Lowe’s Home Improvement shopping center will be located at the southwest corner of El Camino Real and Palomar Airport Road, on the old Olympic Resort property. It will be nice to get rid of the eyesore debris that was once the resort, for what promises to be a beautiful and modern shopping center with a Spanish-Mediterranean architectural style. There will also be a gas station, car wash, and a bank with drive-through, plus four retail shop buildings totaling 31,270 square feet.

Tin Leaf Kitchen: Tin Leaf Fresh Kitchen is a new restaurant that opened yesterday. It is located in the Vons shopping center at the corner of El Camino Real and Aviara Parkway in Carlsbad, located adjacent to Daphne’s. The menu offers specialty and hand carved sandwiches, salads, soups, family style meals to go and a kids’ menu. The Paseo at Carlsbad: The new shopping center on Paseo Del Norte, right across from the Carlsbad Premium Outlets, is scheduled to open in late September. The center looks beautiful and will be complete with courtyards, gardens and fountains, along with lots of palm trees. A mixture of specialty shops, boutiques and outlet-style stores will comprise the two story center. The anchor tenants, BJ’s Brewhouse and P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, have been there a while now and both are always busy (and delicious, I might add)…this will be a welcome addition to Carlsbad and I for one am excited!
