Carlsbad Citizens Academy

The Carlsbad Citizens’ Academy is now forming for spring of 2010 and is accepting applications. The Academy allows citizens to come together to learn all about how the city functions. The course is 7 weeks long and will be held Thursdays at 5:00 from March 4-April 15, 2010.

The Citizens’ Academy enables members to learn about many aspects of the functioning of the city, include finances, public works, city planning, fire and police, and cultural arts. Academy participants will meet with city council members and staff, as well as tour the behind the scenes operations of the city.

Close to 1000 residents have participated in the program since its inception in 2001. Applicants must be Carlsbad residents and must be 18 or older.
